Window of Possibility

Early this morning as I was looking through a new window of a new apartment, the window became a metaphor of the new year. As miraculous and special as this move is, I saw the protection of a Father towards his daughter. The little girl inside, who I call “Little Vernica”, began to cry outwardly revisiting the many special moments I had with God as a little girl sitting on the porch looking up at the sky talking to my invisible best friend.  I placed my bed close to the window to offer me the choice to sit at the windowsill. As my face rested in my hands, elbows on the ledge talking to my best friend, I gazed into His eyes going down memory lane.

“This year…”, I said, ”will be the beginning of intentional healing of Little Vernica.” My heart approved of that statement and my spirit smiled in expectation, believing in that window of possibility.  The surrender over to God my natural instinct to utilize autopilot to force the process of change to happen my way and in my time was sobering and hard. It was a long journey to this moment, but now in hindsight I am so happy I let God lead the way. The blessings of seeing the result of discipline while feeling a force trying to pull me back to familiar core behaviors was worth the internal price paid.

I know this year, like every year will not be without seasons of challenge, more surrender and growth in intimacy, but I now have spiritual resources I never had before to walk me through it all victoriously.

I encourage you to take a moment to create a separation from life challenges to identify your window of possibility. What is the Holy Spirit whispering to you that He wants to invite you to journey with Him. No matter if your window stands alone, is the size of a bay window or stands the length of the floor to the ceiling. Imagine with Father the new thing you can experience this year holding His hand, gazing into His eyes in partnership with Him.

Weekly Reflection

And he said, “Open the window eastward,” and he opened it. Then Elisha said, “Shoot,” and he shot. And he said, “The Lord's arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Syria! For you shall fight the Syrians in Aphek until you have made an end of them.”~2 Kings 13:17 ESV
